Newcastle United vs Arsenal Clash: Can Arsenal Maintain Their 10-Game Unbeaten Run Against a Revived Newcastle United?

It's a highly anticipated showdown as Newcastle United prepares to face off against Arsenal. Arsenal is about to put their impressive 10-game unbeaten run at the beginning of the season on the line as they travel to Tyneside to take on a resurgent Newcastle United. The Magpies are riding high after a spectacular 3-0 victory over Manchester United just last Wednesday.

Historically, trips to St. James' Park have been incredibly fruitful for Arsenal, having emerged victorious in eight of their last ten visits. In fact, only the Red Devils have managed to secure more Premier League away wins against Newcastle than Arsenal's 13. Their last success at this stadium dates back to April.

However, it's worth noting that this is only one of three occasions when Eddie Howe's team has faced defeat on their home turf in the league since the beginning of the last season. After a challenging start, the Magpies seem to have found their groove again. They have triumphed in each of their last three matches at their own ground, and what's even more impressive is that they haven't conceded a single goal.

Alan Shearer Questions Eddie Nketiah's Elite Potential After Arsenal's Win Over Everton

Alan Shearer, the legendary figure from Newcastle United, has raised doubts about whether Arsenal's star player, Eddie Nketiah, will ever attain the 'elite' status, following his performance during Arsenal's hard-fought 1-0 victory over Everton in the Premier League on Sunday.

Despite the return to full fitness of striker Gabriel Jesus, Arsenal's manager, Mikel Arteta, opted to place his trust in Nketiah, who recently received his first call-up to the England senior national team.

Nketiah found himself largely overwhelmed by Everton's formidable central defenders, with Leandro Trossard's second-half goal ultimately securing all three points for Arsenal.

When assessing Nketiah's performance, Shearer shared his observations on Premier League Productions, highlighting that the 24-year-old displayed a lack of speed during the match.

He remarked, "I think we will continue to have the discussion to say is he elite? Is he the top-tier striker that Arsenal may need to elevate their game to the next level?"

"We will keep asking those questions because it's crucial that when he gets the opportunity, as he did today when the manager demonstrates faith in him and includes him once more, he must capitalize on those chances."

Shearer went on to point out, "Today, I noticed two or three instances, including the disallowed goal and a couple in the second half, where I thought, 'Come on, get on the end of it, get into that six-yard box, and secure that tap-in, just as all great strikers do.' It was just a split second where he appeared slow."

He concluded, "Until he consistently delivers or accomplishes that, inquiries regarding his elite status will persist."

Man U vs Chelsea prediction and odds ahead of Premier League clash

Erik ten Hag can secure Manchester United's place in the Champions League with a result against Chelsea on Thursday night when the two sides meet at Old Trafford. The hosts go into the match three points ahead of Liverpool, who sit in fifth, so a point is needed to confirm United's spot in UEFA's top club competition.

United are the favourites going into this match at 3/5 with Betfred while the Blues are 4/1 to produce a shock and a draw is 16/5. The Red Devils are unbeaten in their last 10 league match against Chelsea though that does feature seven draws and have never gone 11 league matches without defeat against Chelsea.

For the first time since 1996, Chelsea will finish the Premier League in the bottom half of the Premier League table after suffering a 1-0 defeat to heavily rotated champions Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium. Frank Lampard's return to the helm in an interim role has not been a successful one and many Chelsea fans will be keen to put the season behind them.

Transfer: Haaland agrees deal with new club, to become highest paid player in Premier League

Borussia Dortmund striker, Ealing Haaland’s representatives and Manchester City have agreed terms on a deal, according to Daily Mail.

The deal will make the player the highest paid player in the Premier League, with a contract worth over £500,000-a-week offered to the Norwegian.

The striker and his representatives are said to have now understandably given the deal the green light

Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City, who are yet to replace their legendary striker, Sergio Aguero, who left the club in the summer of 2020, will trigger Haaland’s £63m release clause in his contract at Borussia Dortmund.

The Premier League giants will offer the Norwegian a five-year contract with Real Madrid, Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain also said to be interested in signing Haaland.

But with a contract agreement in place, Manchester City appear to be right at the front of the pack in the race for his signature.

Haaland’s father, Alg-Inge, played for Manchester City from 2000-03.

The 21-year-old has been close to unstoppable since joining Dortmund from RB Salzburg in January 2020, scoring 82 goals in 85 games across all competitions.

The striker has also scored 15 times in 17 caps for his country and has become one of the most wanted players on the planet. Dailypost
